Boho Hunter is one of my favorite spots to shop in Miami. Located in the heart of the Wynwood Arts District, the store has a carefully curated selection of Latin American designers. Even if you’re not the boho type, you’ll undoubtedly find something for you or your home, or even a gift for a special friend. Miami has some pretty intense sunlight and sunscreen alone is usually not enough to protect your skin. That’s why I recommend using sun-repellent accessories. At Boho Hunter you’ll find a beautiful selection of toquilla hats, hand-woven by women artisans in Ecuador and exquisitely designed by Adriana Ortiz for her brand ALLPA.
The fashionable boutique also has colorful fringed espadrilles from Venezuela, my homeland, designed by Casa de Vera and hand-knitted by local artisans. They’re a modern reinterpretation of the traditional Venezuelan black alpargatas. What better way to add a pinch of boho vibe to your daily look than to wear a hand-woven long necklace with coins? Beautifully designed by Argentinian jewelry designer Daniela Bustos Maya, the necklaces have old coins collected by her in Mexico—where she lives—woven with the same threads Yucatanian artisans use to build their famous hammocks.
Among my favorites in the store are the short robes from the Peruvian brand Balkanica. They’re so versatile and bright! You can wear them as robes, beach cover-ups or as kimono vests with a turtleneck and jeans. You might also go head over heels for the lizard clutches from the Mexican brand Pantera or for the unique selection of decorative objects for the home. I bought some very cool plastic placemats from Colombia, designed by Denise Akerman for her brand Design Amour.
For those of you living in Miami, I recommend you visit the store. It’s worth it and I’m sure you’ll fall in love with everything. If you’re not in Miami, you can visit the website and shop online: www.bohohunter.com. Happy boho hunting!
