Meet Laura Gelvez and her line Candelario Designs
Hi, my dear friends!
I know I’ve been MIA from micamisablanca.com lately, but I’ve been doing a lot these past few weeks. I’ve met some talented entrepreneurs and preparing a Fashion Trunk Show from SenosAyuda Foundation, a US based non-profit that aims to raise funds to support the programs of AC SenosAyuda in Venezuela. But that’s a subject for another post. On the other hand, the weather in Miami was not the best for photo shooting, but Thank God not as bad as in Houston; my prayers are for all of them.
I want to introduce you to Laura Gelvez, and her line Candelario Designs. Laura came to Miami from Colombia to be with her love and now husband, and they just moved to San Francisco. When she came, she started to think about what to do for a living and as a creative millennial decided to experiment with acrylic and came up with this beautiful earring line: Candelario Designs.
I met Laura at a networking breakfast fashion chat with Danié Gómez-Ortigoza, a Miami Style Icon hosted by EAST Miami. Danié was quite inspiring and encouraged all to embrace their dreams and empower each other. Danié has a distinct style and is certainly the kind of woman that has contributed most to show and support Latin American designers in Miami. You should check her blog: journeyofabraid.com
Laura was wearing one of her earrings, and I found them very original, so I told her that I would like to see her entire collection to feature here. One week later she came to my house, and I was totally in love with her creativity as well as the originality of each pair of earrings.
First of all, they are ultra light, so you can wear them without feeling they are holding your ears down. They are trendy since Laura uses pom poms and tassels to adorn them, but uniquely. They are all made of acrylic, some in black and others transparent imitating a golden mirror.
I had to admit that I bought three pairs, and I love them, I’m a real earring addict, and I love when a find original ones. On the other hand, Laura is such a sweet girl! Full of dreams and passion for what she does! The kind of millennial you want to support and encourage to keeping up with her line and succeed. I’m sure she’s going to grow her new venture and extend her line.
You know how much I enjoy and appreciate your comments, so I look forward to them!
